Our mission is to constructively impact the youth, families, and community by being a positive influence to the young people within the South Dallas community.
We will empower the future leaders of South Dallas through Christ-honoring relationships that encourage healthy choices, and develop and affirm transforming relationships.
Champions of Hope was started in 2008 by a group of people wanting to see hope brought to South Dallas through relationships. Many had been growing in relationships with families in South Dallas and wanted to see others equipped to do the same.
The call to “go and make disciples” applies to every inch of the globe; the heart of Champions of Hope is to see this done in the South Dallas community specifically. We believe this is to be carried out through long-term relationships.
Pilot program 2008
In the fall of 2008, we launched a pilot program at our first partner school Charles Rice Elementary. We matched thirty-five 4th grade students with mentors who committed to mentoring them through high school. Most of these relationships are still strong and thriving.
We have seen lives changed greatly -the kids, the families, and the mentors. Love and transformation through relationship has manifested through the changes in these children academically and behaviorally, in their relationships, and how they serve as leaders in their schools and community.
Champions of Hope now has children being mentored at Lincoln High School, Madison High School, Billy E. Dade Middle School, and J.J. Rhoads Elementary in addition to Charles Rice Elementary.
